The challenge of sustainability in road transport
Road freight is essential to Europe’s supply chain — but it comes with CO₂ emissions, fuel consumption, and wear on infrastructure. As environmental regulations tighten and customer expectations shift, the logistics industry must adapt.
What we’re doing
At vidaXL Forwarding, we believe that small, consistent changes can lead to big results. That’s why we’re investing in practical steps that reduce emissions and increase efficiency:
- Optimized route planning: Our planners use digital tools to avoid unnecessary kilometers, reduce empty runs, and minimize fuel usage.
- Modern fleet: Our trailers are maintained to the highest standards for fuel efficiency and reliability.
- Load efficiency: We focus on full-truckload shipments to reduce the number of vehicles on the road per unit of cargo.
- Electric truck pilot: In 2024, we proudly added our first all-electric truck to the fleet. We’re currently using this vehicle for short-range routes into Germany to test its performance, reliability, and charging logistics in real-world conditions.
These steps are part of our long-term ambition to create smarter, cleaner, and more responsible transport solutions.
The road ahead
We’re actively exploring new ways to reduce our footprint — from lower-emission vehicles to smarter logistics processes. But we also know that true impact comes from long-term commitment and transparent communication.
As one of our dispatchers put it:
“Greener transport starts with better decisions, every day — not just big promises.”
Working toward a common goal
We’re proud to support clients who are also looking to improve their supply chain sustainability. Whether it’s optimizing delivery frequency or planning smarter routes, we’re here to help make responsible choices that still meet performance expectations.
